Edith Congane
Edith Congane is a visual artist born in 2003 in South Kivu, Democratic
Republic of Congo.
She grew up between Bukavu and Goma, and currently lives in Kinshasa
where she is pursuing her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts.
Convinced that every human being carries a unique light within them,
she sees artistic creation as an act of transmission, a space for awakening.
Her work seeks to rekindle this light buried within each of us, to invite
the soul to embark on a quest for meaning, beauty, and truth. For her, an
artist is a guide, an outstretched hand, a sensitive mirror. Through her
works, she also pays tribute to figures who have marked history with
their righteous and enlightened actions. She celebrates these souls who
have left positive imprints and whose memory deserves to be revived.
One of her unique techniques is the use of collages made from burned
newspapers, a way of giving form to oblivion, denouncing the silences of
history, but also of sparking curiosity, questioning, and awareness. This
symbolic material reinforces the introspective, memorial, and engaged
scope of her work.
Her creations have been exhibited in various renown artistic venues and
in many cultural spaces and her work is widely collected.
